Having a lot of information like images, video, audio and documents can be nice, but it only makes sense if anybody can find what they need in this large amount of data.
The local history society Heemkundevereniging Maas- en Swalmdal had exactly this question a few years ago. They had a huge amount of images, video, audio and documents (assets) laying around in closets. The challenge was to get all this information out on the internet, but in a structured form. It was key to describe all assets (location, date, copyright, what are we looking at, etc.) and still have it presented online using an easy interface. The members of the local history society are doing a great job in selecting and describing all assets.
